“As the Father has loved me,
so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.” – John 15:9, NIV
Paul had been a teacher at a
local elementary school for almost four decades. As he neared retirement, his
adult children wanted a way to celebrate Paul’s dedication to the children of
their town.
So, they set out to create a
scrapbook filled with memories that would honor and bless their dad. They
interviewed some of their father’s first students—many who had children or
grandchildren of their own. They collected pictures of their father at various
school events and added them to the album, too.
When it was time for Paul’s
retirement party, his children brought out the book. It brought tears to his
eyes to see the impact that he’d had during his career. He treasured the
scrapbook for the rest of his life.
Sometimes, family members
needed to be reminded that they’re special. They need to be told that what
they’re doing is making a positive impact. They need to be celebrated.
Who in your life could you
celebrate today? Your mom? A sibling? Your grandparent? A cousin? Choose
someone today!
God, show me who I can lift up and encourage today. I want
to celebrate a family member and let them know I care. Help me to find share
Your love in a tangible way. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
